Would you like to be of direct help to a returning citizen? It’s really hard to make it out in the world when you are released from prison. That’s why the recidivism rate is so high. We provide emotional and logistical support to people returning from prison to their communities through our Radically Welcoming Congregations program.
Our Overground Railroad project raises money specifically to give financial aid to returning citizens. The people who would be eligible for help would be people who have been through a UU covenant group or attended UU worship services regularly while incarcerated. Aid would be provided for things like transportation, clothing, first month’s rent and security deposit, or tuition. The funds would be administered through our Ministers-Discresionary Fund.
